By posting, you are notifying the map maker you are appealing the decision, as often map makers put banned players on ignore.

The thread was initially started by ambitious moderators who had several hours per day to resolve the dozens of bans each day.
Over time, as those mods realized it was a severe waste of their life, the list was used more as a starting point.

Each mod has their own way of handling disputes, but generally a mod will recommend you attempt to contact the map maker and resolve the issue without a moderator. (This is best for everyone.)

However, if this doesn't work, the onus is on the mapmaker to provide supporting evidence to the moderator.

If the map maker is justified in the ban, the appealing player will be notified.
If not, the map maker will lose his ban abilities for a certain amount of time.

The above way of handling things resulted in a drastic reduction in appeals, as map makers could no longer arbitrarily ban players without losing their banning priveleges.

However, occasionally there are disputes. If a mod does not respond, it's probably because no mod checked the forum. (It's not always the first person a mod wants to go when they log on, as most of the bans are ego clashes that really don't require moderation, and 19 times out of 20 they resolve themselves after a few days, when people 'cool down' and start being reasonable.

If after a few days you have not resolved the issue with the mapmaker, contact a mod directly. ♥

Is that a nice way of saying that Pulse didn't have a life?

Actually, i'm saying almost the opposite... he had a life, but didn't know how much of one until modding mapmakers became full time ♥
