What do you think about people who always try to go against the status quo? I've made this thread to discuss this here, ,as well as to reply to Croat's comment in other thread.

And I am very pound of it actually (if I even fits that description). However you should beware when you say "Majority", because that Majority is not even here. They are just some casual players who are looking for fun. That "majority" would probably not care about what is being discussed here.
Not sure about that. I am always willing to lead discussion to PM's, and my only interest is to reach a mutual conclusion. I don't think I am attention whore at all.
This is actually very true. I'm very curious and reaching a conclusion is something that I desires a lot in everything. Maybe it is an urge as you say
You should never discourage someone from go against the status quo In fact almost all the fallacies in Math an logics starts by assuming something is wrong and trying to reach a contradiction (READ:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reductio_ad_absurdum ). In the classics hypothesis and even in some small patchs of the nowadays experimental sciences it is the opposite, to assume something is right and prove so. But the first method is preferred over the second. Something similar but that you shouldn't confuse Reductio ad absurdum with the fallacy called Bulverism, which consist in assuming your opponent is wrong and try explaining him his error. But I am not using circular arguments (otherwise we would never reach a conclusion), but rather adding why I think my perception is right. Whenever the argument goes into a circle I always try to put it on the road (Check: ) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulverism.

I think they are aggressive and violent. They want change, which disturb other peoples peace. I also think this is how Clovis watch Pokemons:

I don't think Galileo or any scientific that opposed to the church or what other old scientific said before was aggressive... Sure, there are some who takes the violence and uses it to go against the status quo, for example, when it comes to politics. But in every other aspect with some exceptions in religions and some but other fields, the status quo is often broken, and even encouraged to be broken in different areas such as Business. Google and other companies have their own departure where they do something called "Reverse Engineering", that consist in an attempt to re-built something that was already established. Sometimes this fails but it also works making the product even more efficient plus generating more profit for the company.

A copy of me apparently , i always question everything if its true and reassure myself up to 3 times before i react , there will always be an easier way to fix the problem , this is closely linked with rationalism and optimism and as we can see from history like others said before me it has lead to people drastically improving their view on things , if it wasnt for people like these we would still think the earth is flat , or that we are in a helio-centric system etc etc , you should feel special

contra person is not a word, a contrarian is. And its not really a good thing to be one. And challenging the status quo.. of what and how and why? how can you generalize like that? hitler went against the status quo too. all military dictatorships too. If you want to be a contrarian or a non-comformist clovis thats fine, but first you got to be a critical thinker and a skeptic and choose the things you oppose, otherwise you are just a douchebag who disagrees with everything just for the hell of it. Example is 1st turn wf. Nothing to debate. It ruins everybodies experience and thats enough, no matter how hard you try, you cant argue with common sense, nor try force your opinion on everybody else. p.s.
nice fell in trap. so you agree that bolsheviks and all communist revolutions were violent, agressive and illegal?

contrarian is a person who always goes against the majority, definitively not what I am referring at with "breaking the status quo". Sometimes this comes even from popular decisions. (Ex: When you just thrown a dictatorship).
Isn't this the same that I replied to Serb? Read that paragraph...
Lol. If you read that thread, then you did realized I do think it is something bad and support any in-game implementation that avoid it from happening... What I am completely against is that mods takes actions toward a feature that is not here yet. Because if they do, there is a high chance that they will do the same with rewalls or dc's and even to rush and "lol this noob picked ukraine, that is op plz ban". You can't moderate all the user actions in the game. Also, as I replied to Croat at the start of this thread, that "majority" of players probably doesn't cares about this subject and would be fine with everything. They are all normal players who just want to have fun.

no it isnt. you are trying to generalize saying that a contra-person who always opposes the status quo is a good thing. And i answer no he is not, he is an asshole. As a species we are radical and progressive and over thousand of years we diched traditions and cultural norms and practices that served no purpose. Yes, BUT. After carefull analysis, thought, debate and communication, not because we woke up one day and said lets change this. Example, our ancestors discriminated against gays because it was crucial to their survival. If men turned gay then, the tribe wouldnt have the man-force to survive. If some fairy contra-apemen went against the status quo then, we might not even exist now. Now however we are already overpopulated and we do not need to hunt animals with sticks to eat, so women can get out of the kitchen and men can be gay. Also since you talked about science and social issues, 21st century contrarians include scientists who deny evolution, scientists who deny climate change, economists who want to stop funding of Nasa, conservatives who want to destroy wellfare, libertarians who want free guns for everybody (so more bic mac 4th graders can shoot whole schools) and liberals who want to accept millions of muslim immigrants and let them live in our house and rape our mothers. As i said, dont generalize..
1st turn wf is a special case and you know that. It might as well be an official rule, since everybody agree with it being one. Enforcing it on cws and duels, has the approval of not only the majority, but 90+% of the specific settings user base, including me and apparently excluding only you.. general majority in this case does not matter and is irrelevant, as the casual noobs you are refering to, hardly ever play cw.

I think I am not. Sure there are bad contra person as there are good contra person, but both you and Serb had say it is bad, when it is not. In fact, we would still be primitive if the human didn't had question himself: "Why do I do this?".
They aren't irrelevant for the admins whoever, since that "majority" you've classified as irrelevant is where the $$$ comes from. Think about what would happen if all of them suddenly decide to make their voice noticeable.

True that, we need scientific breakthroughs. Didn't think of that, i was thinking more of shopkeepers, who expand their business because if their greed, while they can maintain status quo of having all customers from that particular neighborhood. As soon as he grows larger, he become corporation, with anti-trust laws, trying to decieve customers by adding worthless (sometime harmful) resource in product so he can sell it more expensive.
1) How and why did i fell in trap? 2) Why you bring up communism, bolsheviks and revolution? 3) Yes, Marx said communist revolution will usually be violent and aggressive because capitalists won't allow workers and peasants to gain power and freedom. So they have to fight. Communists backstabbed Russia in WW1 which was immoral and illegal. Bolsheviks created many mistakes, but also created many good things because they were fast, they rushed to finish what they planned because they were the first socialist state and new country. So while looking at some other country with 1000 years of mistakes and achievements, it doesn't look nothing special, then you look at CCCP and you think it's a big deal.

Nice three way argument. There's a difference between someone opposing all rules set before that person and someone questioning them. It is crucial for humans to question their own rules, laws, and anything of the such that regulates our lives. The only instance where laws are amended or boundaries are broken is when people question why are they doing something. This is the only path to progressive thought. However, directly OPPOSING everything just for the sake of it is called posing. Posing to be some hipster thinker who has better ideas than everyone else. I cherish being different, and having different thought, but opposing for the sake of it is useless.

I don't fit in the description of a contrarian simply because I don't always go against everything for the sake of it. I, however, don't accept any "truth" just for the sake of it, like some people (specially religious people) does. I do think different and question said truths before following them, as Tactician had pointed out in his comment (Which you've upvoted, so I assume you also agree with it). Nice opinion though..
