Those are mountains. If my soldiers are able to climb mountains, then how could that possibly be considered "abuse"?

There's this thing called a tectonic plate. They shift and create new mountains.

I was told those where mine fields before.

They are marshes and passing trough them is legal, just more time consuming.

Since I was in contact with the mapmakers during the production of this map, I can tell you it was their intention for it to be possible, so no, it's not abuse at all.
