I cant believe no one here made a thread for situation in greece. A thread in a online game is nit a help nor does it make a huge difference but it means something. Solidarity and support.
I guess the tragedy in greece its not as important as world cup poll threads...

My condolences go for the families of the victims and support for the people in greece. Almost every year there is huge forest fires in greece but I heard this was intetional alghough im not sure about that. Its sad to see people running to the water to escape fire and some drowning cuz they didnt know how to swim...

If there is a legit official gofundme for these families post the link here, perhaps some people here will donate some sort of amount.

It's a major topic of discussion here in Greece, and yes it is suspected that it was organised arson mainly due to how efficient it was, it struck an important region of Attica to which I've been a couple of times, my friend's summer house is there and they would've gone there right before the fire started but something ended up delaying it.

They said they found bodies hugging each other at the time of death, similar to Pompeii. But what is there to gain from this from an individual/organizations' point of view?

I got the news yesterday on my phone when I was coming home from Lisbon, I was gonna make a thread about it honestly, because these Greek Fires are being the same Hell to Greece as the 2017 Forest Fires were to my Country, that victimized 120 people, and I can totally relate to the National Pain that is seeing your beloved country on fire, people dieing or getting seriously injured, or even worse, see at-naked the despair, the frustration of families and older people that lost everything they had with the fire and are now nothing except the clothes they wear...

Very sad tbh that these human-cast fires even happen, man-made fires should be punished heavily, condolences to the familiesss

My country's President, who's a friend of Greek President from the times of when they were Professors of Law has already expressed in an hour long phone call our collective deep condolences

In Portugal last year, a family was found hugging each other and a mother hugging a baby on her lap, both died in that position. The thing about these man-made fires is that they're made by Lunatics, often ones with a past in these kinds of things that aren't flagged by the authorities or aren't imprisoned or even that their prison-sentences are ridiculously low. Last year, when those fires killed a total of 120 people, ripped forests of their beauty and threw entire families and companies in despair (It was indirectly due to our Governments incompetence, because they failed to have enough aerial means on dispose and firefighters have been neglected for years), a huge discussion broke out of making that arsonism crime a severe-crime and punish it with a hard sentence, but nothing concrete came forward.

These fires are a big economical and lucrative opportunity for companies to collect some wood and what not,and even to construction companies or the paper industry. There's big gains from fires, even if the despair seems to overload them

Last year the deadly fires, one of them was "natural", the other was man-inflicted or man-empowered; but nearly all the fires of last year that decimated forests and forests were man-made. Even in the 1st Large Fire, who killed 60 people, the negligence of the Government Forces helped the killing

It's sad really sad. Just the stories as to how people died together and how it seems they lost hope is heartbreaking. We have reahed 80+ dead, 150+ in hospitals (12 are in a serious condition) and more than 100 missing.

Same happened last year in Portugal and the sense of national mourning that gets in you is horrible, and the fear of your fam, friends or people you know that could have been trapped by it makes it worse. At least, Portugal's sending help from veteran firefighters
