Wow I'm the only person so far to vote no out of 7 people. I wouldn't trust this community to vote for anything of importance. No offence.

Definitely no.

The concentracion of egocentric jerks, warrior kids, self-proclaimed smartasses, toxic gangsters and crazy trolls today is too high to let them vote even for a new supporter, let alone a new moderator.

The candidates should be chosen by admins themselves, Dave, Brian, and Clovis, to see who are worthy enough for this role. If they do this, they would select worthy ones and decline applications of toxic candidates.

No. Sure, a vote by the community would he welcomed but it's not going to get that player mod. You need to be qualified. Most of the players here dont even know what most of the mods on the team are qualified for or what they mainly do on the team; nor do they do research into the subject.

If the community wants more knowledge or more say into mods then why dont those who have interest in this topic start their own source and interview mods, community members, etc to bring to the community instead of creating a thread every few months about this? Itll never happen. Just like the US population wont ever vote in their own President. Same reasons.

People in this community are unable to be objective. I vote no.

No. I could go on for days why certain mods have been problematic throughout the years, but there are honestly no consistent trends I've noticed. Either they have egos, or are too young and power hungry, or cannot work well with others, etc etc.

We need more mods like Sascha; unbiased, enforces the rules as far as he needs to (IE lenient of he feels he should be, harsh vice versa), as well as weighs the needs of the community when making decisions.

Two necessary traits to fit to even be considered for a mod:
Thick skin (can't let petty shit and incessant hate get to you, cause you most definitely will get it)
Objectivity
Most of the players can't be both at the same time

 Rasp
This isn't a good idea, firstly because this voting could be negatively influenced by alts and trolls.
Secondly, majority of voters would choose 'person X' because his kindness - while it should be what possible qualities 'person X' has to moderate the game.

No because admins are usually removed from the community, and if they are "involved," they typically only engage with a small subset of the community. The system should stay the same, which is by a vote of the current mod team. Admins can provide input, but ultimately it is the mod team that makes that decision

edit: this historically is how the system has worked at least, until more recent times

Just make a cliché forum post on how to wall a city, how to move units etc. You don't have to contribute anything new to the game, you just have to regurgitate what previous mods have done to be mod. I.e. portray yourself as a respectable community figure as your alter ego

Just doing this doesn't make you suit to becoming a mod. Some mods I respect, but others are plain dirty and act like they have given up on doing their jobs. Sure, making forum posts for beginners is a good thing, but literally anyone can do that. It's not just forum posting that'll get you to become a mod.

It's not a matter of respect for moderators individually, moreso the system.
