I was answering to other players on a thread and realised that I could post that here to open the discussion :

Several people keep making the argument that there is currently an outrageous number of mods and supporters, which is a silly argument if you ask me, but I think it's a legit question and we can debate on it (please don't turn this into a flame war). Lemme explain why the current number is actually fine :

• First of all you forget the different time zone, we're not on at the same time but the team is supposed to be present 24/7 ;
  
  
• Second, the turn over in the moderation team (several mods aren't really active), some get bored, some other just have no time, some are just tired to get yelled at all day long by people that are only yelling cause they have a mod in front of them ;
  
  
• Third, you focusing on what you see, aka the main room, but there is also the beginners room and the casual room that we have to moderate ;
  
  
• Last but not least, the fact that most of us (except Nero) have an irl life, so we don't have that much time to dedicate to atwar, aka we need to split the work on every task, and being a decent number is more appropriate for that cause it actually take time to answer the reports, make the inquiries, check the ip logs etc...

There is around 8 active mods, generally 3 on at the same time (which are afk or reading forum most of the time) but at minimum 60 players online all the time (on the 4 rooms, main and beginners in quick and casual) with at some hours 200+ players peak (that are single connections).

If u add to this the fact that there is a trollish culture in here and several players with real issues that keep ddos, spam alts, find a relevancy in childish trolls and opposition despite the vacuity of their claims etc..., the ratio mod/player is really not that high, to the contrary I would say.

Same goes for the supporters, pretty much, who are actively contributing to the game development without having significant powers, so why do u complain about having them around and at the same time blaming the lack of players? Makes no sense.

Your argument is ridden with fallacy from beginning to end, Kaska. First of all, you've completely dismissed the argument I've been making for years that says we don't need mods. In this sense, you're very dismissive and presumptive, which renders your argument null.

Second of all, there aren't that many trolls on atWar. You're blowing everything out of proportion because you were too lazy to gather the statistics.

Finally, you're made the presumption (again) that we need mods on 24/7, when in fact this "policy" would hinder player growth and development. Having some impersonal body of unelected foreigners dictating what you can or cannot does not bode well with the vast majority of players, including myself.

First and foremost, claiming that there is +200 active players is such a ridiculous statement. We might have 200 unique connections, but unless proven with data, at least half of them are always AFK.

For instance, usually there is a maximun of 50 people in the main lobby but most of the time 40 of those are AFK. And according to you we generally have 3 actice mods through most parts of the day.

Let that sink in: we have 3 active mods per every 10 active players in the main lobby. This does not even include supporters.

If we include supporters, 50% of all active players in the main lobby at any given point are mostly composed of staff and former staff (ex mods, ex supporters).

Also, is pointless to bring up the begginers and casual lobby since people in those lobbies are ALL afk.

Also, the forum has the most inactivity that it has ever had. So unless u happen to be have bad luck and decided to mod the forum the day unleashed decided to make 100 alts, modding the forum is super chill.

So I am curious,

In order to become a mod, we have to basically change our whole appearance and personality in game and forums, have to take everything way to serious and lose all sense of fun, right? Oh and lets not forget: dictate everything that I don't like?

I am just asking for a friend..

Sean Spicer would prefer we abolish mods and form citizen militias to preserve order on AtWar.

If you think any of my statements are wrong, feel free to specifically state in which ones your opinion differs. Let the readers come to their own conclusions and use their personal experience to determine which one was right at the end. I won't argue with you about it if that is what you wish.


As for trolls, you should include yourself in that list.
