Name ownership

<Disclaimer: I've started this thread in off-topic since blabla we cannot complain in general blabla etc.>

Hello guys,

The problem is about the Name ownership. As far as I know, there isn't any method to determine this. The current situation is that Clan Name troll is widely tolerated, and Username Troll is very arbitrary, with discrepancy depending of the mods (Ex: some mods gives you back your name, other doesn't). I've suggested long ago to remove all those troll names from Clans and Users, here: Clan or User name title. For some reason it never happened, and mods never grave a proper reply to it.


The solution: Establish methods to determine who's the name owner.

1) The owner is the one who got the name first. This one is pretty simple but also exploitable, for example, I could change my name all the time just to own it.

Example 1: If Tito got "Andertes" before Pavle, then he keep "Andertes" name.

2) The owner is the one who used it the most. Users can confirm this information.

Example 2: if Pavle used "Andertes" for more time than Tito, then Pavle keep the name.

3) The owner is the one with more fame / vouchers of the name. This is imo the best decision and fits both clans and usernames perfectly, as I don't think an user would lie just for a name.

Example 3: If pavle is more know as "Andertes" than Tito, then Pavle keep the name.

After one method is implemented, then mods should take the decision to now allow the creation of alts "To stack name". Because:

1) In NO GAME I've ever played, the creators would support the creation of alternative accounts. The creation of alternative accounts should'be discouraged, specially when they are created to hold a name. Most of the times those alts result in a troll attempt.

2) When an alt with a name from someone's is created, it is often used to troll. If the above process is implemented, for example, I wouldn't need to created an account called "clovis1122" to save my name, just pick the name I want and when I want my name back I'll ask mods and they return it. Makes the process easier, and doesn't requires alts.

Then, as 3rd step, mods should remove all those clans named cosa nostra! , Mortal Kombat!, etc that were made for troll purposes.

Also, if let's say I pick sweety and someone's else pick sweety u fag, then mods should only act if the player that's getting disturbed by the troll name says it. Otherwise, mods should do nothing.

I chose "The one who used name for the longest." because being known the longest can be subjective I guess, but they basically mean the same thing.

But realistically, everyone knows that as soon as you change your username it's out for grabs, which is why I always use an alt to hold it. I agree there should be some better system but for now, if anyone is complaining, they should really blame themselves.

Well I put the one that is most know(I assume you mean this), but it is different from the one that used the name the longest. Let's say a guy named paradox had the name for 1 year then he deleted his account and left the game. After that, 2 years later, another guy name himself Paradox and in 2 months he is well-know by many members of the community. Then, the original Paradox create a new account and want his name back. Who would keep it? The original Paradox or the new Paradox?

well if he deletes his account then he loses all rights to the name obv.

So it would also be a good idea to declare a name ownership to the most recent guy who hold the game for X time, like 1 month.

Example: "clovis1122" had this name for two years, then he deleted his account. Another low rank takes the name clovis1122 without knowing about the other clovis. 25 days later, the original clovis1122 decides to revive his account, and exactly in 1 month, 4 days after he deleted his account, he decide to get his name clovis1122 back.

Then, since the low rank hold the name for 1 month already, he's the new name owner. The original clovis1122 cannot get his name back unless the low ranks gives it to him.
