1. I think there should be an option to give/sell/loan someone land. For example, if I am fighting in America whilst my ally is fighting in europe against two or more opponents and he has Britain, Spain, France and Germany, he could give me Germany so I am able to help him fight his enemies. 2. Selling land could come when you conquered an opponent but managed to reach a peaceful agreement, he then wants to reclaim an country that I had taken from him, but can't because of the peace/alliance or I'm too strong for him, then I should be able to sell it to him, so I can make instant cash, and he gains a means of production. 3. Loaning someone land could go like this; I control France and Spain, and my main aim is the conquest of the Mediterranean countries and therefore I have no interest in the capture of Britain or Germany, however my ally would like them, as he is in Brazil, he cannot contribute to the European war to claim Britain and Germany. My ally thinks it will take him 4 turns to get the whole of both countries so I loan the capital for 4 turns. I would still recieve 25% of the income of the capital whilst he gains 75% but both parties can build in the country, Party A can build anywhere but the capital whilst Party B can only build in the capital. 4. To expand into Russia from Europe I must make sure I don't get attacked by Turkey or Greece whilst I do so. The players here are weak and should be defeated quite easy but the Russians are growing and a delay in the campaign could prove costly (Sound Familiar?). I don't particularly want to conquer these countries but it looks like I'm going to have to unless I offer them the chance to become a vassal of my country. Now I could do this now, but its only a word agreement that can be easily broken, if there was an option to offer to someone to be my vassal then it stands for the rest of the game. Turkey and Greece would be allied to me for the rest of the game, whoever I declare war on, they declare war on. If i'm defeated however they will gain there independence back, depending on how the enemy is feeling.

I don't know about the idea. But of it works out,I suggest a limit to amount of puppets and a strategy called Puppet Master that allows to increase limit.

I like the idea of selling and giving countries. Puppets however, are better implied.

I don't really like the idea of "puppets". I don't really want to become bonded to someone for the entire game, and I don't think anyone would really use this feature. I don't know how this giving/selling/loan thing would work, but if it did, that'd be pretty sweet and I support those ideas.
