Battle Roll: 8 (+7 from greater strength =15)
Result: Bloody Victory

Importing massive amounts of grain from the south (option 2), -11 talents for grain, legion dispatched to protecc Benedictus was able to campaign in gaul without supply lines. One by one cities were reduced in sieges and tribes crushed.

Vercingetorix and the main forces of gauls amassed in the Arverni territory, but Benedictus was able to build forts and walls negating their numbers and especially their cavalry which would cause disaster. Finally Avaricum and Alesia were taken in huge battles where the flower of roman legions fell in glorious but bloody battles. Vercingetorix humbled himself before the romans, pleading to end the carnage and spare the rest of his people.

At last all of Gaul had fallen and instead of returning to Rome, resigning command to the dictator and taking his governorship in sicily, he leads his army in the roman civil war (manilian law)

Ariovistus (Flanking)
(10 Armies) = 14 strength
Battle Roll: 12 (+6 from greater strength =18)
Result: Decisive Victory

After a heated discussion between Pompeius and Ariovistus (where the germans killed one of the roman scouts) Pompeius refused his offer to make peace and prepared for the assault.

Pompeius led his forces forward in the standard three line formation. Observing that the German left was the weaker part of their line he concentrated his forces there. The Germans attacked in several columns, moving so swiftly that there was no time for the Romans to hurl their pila and battle was fought proximally, with swords. A fierce struggle occurred in which the German left was broken after a stiff fight.

Result: Decisive Victory

Marching north, Pompeius reduced their towns one by one, tribes submitted.

The warlike Belgae however refused to yield their ground even after other Gauls typically would. When finally surrounded by Roman reinforcements in the swamps, the Belgae continued fighting as a pitiless hail of missiles rained down on them from the many archers and peltasts Pompeius had brought from overseas. The peltasts, slingers and archers were brought for the specific purpose of confounding the Gallic proclivity for shield wall tactics, mass attack and individual close combat.

Marching westwards into Lusitania, Pisentius was able to find few supplies or people, most had fled into the wilderness. After of effort he managed to lure the Lusitani into attacking by placing a legion seemingly at a disadvantage ripe for ambush, then crushing the barbarians once they fell for the trap. The battle was very bloody even so, proving that the iberian tribes were deadly fighters.

The lusitani were then wiped out in a deliberate campaign, and mixed among other tribes, sold into slavery, and all their culture destroyed as best as possible. There was to be no more wars or revolts in Hispania, Rome had enough of this troublesome province.

The pic for the battle of korakesion is... Not very accurate

Why? Is it because the pirates were dark skin? Imagine what you would look like if you spent most of your life on the deck of a ship without shade.

Battle of Lugdunum
*Semper Pompeius (Phoenix) (Envelopment)
(1 Evocati+ 4 Veterans +6 Legions +2 command=19 strength
Helvetii Commander (Balanced)
(14 Armies) = 14 strength
Battle Roll: 15 (+5 from greater strength =20)
Result: Decisive Victory

Pompeius hill-top battle line easily threw back the Helvetii onslaught by using pila (javelins). The legions then counterattacked, driving the Helvetii back towards the hill where their baggage train sat.

While the legions pursued the Helvetii across the plain in between the hills, the Boii and Tulingi arrived with fifteen thousand men to assist the Helvetii, flanking the Romans on one side. At that point the Helvetii returned to the battle in earnest. When the Tulingi and the Boii started circumventing the Romans, Pompeius regrouped his third line to resist the assault of the Boii and Tuligni, keeping his primary and secondary committed to chasing the Helvetii.

The battle lasted many hours into the night until the Romans finally took the Helvetic baggage train, capturing both a daughter and son of Orgetorix. 130,000 enemy personnel escaped into the night, they were forced to resettle back in their homelands, now much reduced in strength.

After retreating to the shore, the pirates were besieged in the town of Korakesion by Cocles forces. Numerous assaults were made by Legio X, who suffered heavy casualties, but by their efforts, the city was won. The pirates were crucified and the tribes split up to be resettled. All of Cilicia now was subdued and its rebellious nature eradicated by Cocles.

Meanwhile, Legio Evocati II Victrix was ent to Syria to aid Philip's civil war against his brothers. The addition of an elite roman legion to his forces made him unstoppable and both brothers swiftly fled the kingdom into exile among their puppet masters for the time being. Philip is now a client king to Rome, but more precisely, to Cocles.

Battle of Bibracte

(1 Evocati+ 2 Veterans +8 Legions +4 command+2 allied armies)=21 strength
Helvetii Commander (Balanced)
(14 Armies) = 14 strength
Battle Roll: 5 (+7 from greater strength =12)
Result: Stalemate

The first thing the romans noticed was the sheer size of the helvetii horde. Warriors were only one portion, women children, elderly all followed them. Numbers beyond counting hundreds of thousands swarmed the river plain like bees. And they had become angry seeing the Roman arrival and plan to wipe them out. Cheiftans rallied the men surprisingly fast into a battle like while Pisentius did likewise while orderingthe Aedui cavalry to his left flank. The charge of the enemy was hard to withstand and the romans were at first driven back badly, almost near to rout but the superior leadership of Pisentius and quality of the legions held firm, pushing the Helvetii back in turn. Both sides had to abandon the field, the Helvetii have gone eastwards in search of allies among the germanic tribes but fail...for now.

The, Tribune, clearly under the sway of the senatorial faction makes his way to the polls. The thugs of Gaius Tertius Cocles (Empirezz) prevent him from doing so which becomes violent, and he is stabbed to death. The people are outraged over this and the thugs are soon killed by the mob. Cocles is implicated
